The Occurrence of Nasal Congestion After Rhinoplasty
In order to lift the nasal tip or enhance its shape, stand the cartilage support again the nasal tip and fix the support on the nasal septal cartilage.
In most cases, some part of septal cartilage is used as columellar strut to support tip. However, if the remained nasal septal cartilage is weakened or a pressure stronger than the supporting structure is given to the nasal tip, the nasal septum or the nasal septal extension graft would break or bend.
If the nasal septum is weaken or broken, the nasal septum will deviate and one side of the nasal cavity will be narrowed, causing nasal congestion. In serious cases, the nasal columella will tilt and may induce nostrils asymmetry.
If nasal congestion happens due to the weakened nasal septal cartilages, correct the nasal septal deviation and strengthen and reinforce weak septal cartilage by batten septal extension graft, in order to make a straight supporting structure.
One of the nasal septum reconstruction surgeries, can solve the nasal congestion problem and correct the uneven nostril or asymmetric nasal tip.
